Why Do I teach piano?
Because I love it <3
I have over 15 years of piano teaching experience in New York City. I started teaching at a local piano studio in Brooklyn and later moved to larger schools. Currently, I teach only private students because I prefer deeper communication without any institutions between us.
I can teach piano students of all levels, but I especially welcome adult students. Since I began learning piano as an adult and reached my current level, I can share my experience with aspiring pianists.
I treat my students as musicians because I believe every individual has the potential to become an artist. I want to provide that option in case they choose to pursue it.
Feel free to reach out if you’d like to share this musical journey with me! Contact
My Students Feedback
I was a piano student from age 4-12, and for a variety of reasons stopped taking lessons. I kept playing on my own but felt like I didn’t have a teacher I could relate to.
When I got older I decided to try to work with a teacher again, and I met Hitomi Honda in New York. I believe Hitomi has the rare gift of being both an exceptional pianist and also a fantastic teacher. She was able to combine difficult training routines and practice, while being able to teach pieces I actually wanted to learn. Soon I could see the hours of practic come together in learning Chopin, Satie, and Bach. She had a way of breaking down the steps, while being patient and also focussed on what was essential to move forward. Hitomi was able to push me in a direction I didn’t know I had in me, and I am grateful for it.
I would recommend anyone who wants to be serious about their piano playing at any level to work with Hitomi, they will not regret it.I was a piano student from age 4-12, and for a variety of reasons stopped taking lessons. Thank you Philip for writing such a great feedback <3
Lesson Fee and Area I can teach
I have taught all over New York City in the past, including Brooklyn and Queens. However, doing so made it difficult for me to maintain my own practice time.
For this reason, I currently teach only in Manhattan.
Lesson Fee
$100 / 60 min -If you are an advanced student, you are required to take one-hour lessons because I often exceed 45 minutes easily. There is a lot to work on at a higher level—both the vertical and horizontal aspects of music—on a much deeper level.
If you can play Bach’s Inventions, I consider you an advanced student.
$80 / 45 min– Most young students and adult beginners stick to this option.
$60 / 30 min – Small children – I can teach +6 year old.
Online lessons are the same price. If your child is 6 years or older, I can teach effectively online as well. My retention rate during the pandemic was 95%, with most students continuing their lessons online. I even helped them pass ABRSM Grade 6 and 7 exams. Online lessons are about how creatively we can make them work.
Currently I have two online students – learning Rachmaninov and ABRSM grade 6.
Concert Venue
Steinway Hall in Manhattan

My Payment System and Cancellation Policy
Students pay monthly after confirming their schedule with me. I am flexible with 24-hour notice for cancellations, but all lessons must be completed within the same month – either in- person or online.
Piano Studio ?
Yes, I have a piano studio in Manhattan, and a Yamaha Grand piano is available. I can DM you the address if you’d like to visit my studio. The picture below shows my studio, along with my favorite piano tuner, Sam Noel from Steinway & Sons. If you need your piano tuned, feel free to reach out to him—he’s amazing! His contact information is available.
