Piano Lesson
I have many years of experience teaching online lessons because the previous school where I worked offered online lessons when students couldn’t attend in person. I also built up my experience during the pandemic. My retention rate at that time was 95%. My private students then passed ABRSM Grade 6 and 7 through online lessons alone.
So, studying with Hitomi online absolutely works! This is perfect for people who live outside of New York City.
Currently, I have students in Upstate NY and Massachusetts. Please let me know if you’re interested in a trial lesson. A Zoom link is available.
What can you expect to learn
I have commitment to let students to improve things below
- Sight-Reading Skill – this means that when you look at music, you can start playing it perfectly right away.
- Music Theory- I teach it from the very begining so that you fill learn music faster. Both Children and Adults
- Ear Training – Listening ability
- Singing – It’s not a vocal lesson, but it helps you imagine pitches in your head.
- Piano Exams (NYSSMA, ASM, RCM and others) – Up to the highest level Grade 8 and 9
- Performance – How to memorize music; this is related to music theory.
I prefer the Piano Adventures series for children because the book teaches music theory from an early stage.
Lesson Fee
For online lessons, I do not recommend them for small children. This method works best for advanced and adult students. However, if you have a keyboard or piano, it will work perfectly. I do have experience teaching children aged six and up, so if you’re interested, you are welcome to give it a try with me.
Lesson Fee: $80 for 45-60 minutes, with flexible timing. Some people have trouble focusing at the beginning, and that’s okay. Even with 45 minutes, you’ll feel like you’ve accomplished a lot. But if you can do a full hour, you’re a winner! You can pay me PayPal or Zelle. Contact Hitomi
Testimonials

I was a piano student from age 4-12, and for a variety of reasons stopped taking lessons. I kept playing on my own but felt like I didn’t have a teacher I could relate to.
When I got older I decided to try to work with a teacher again, and I met Hitomi Honda in New York. I believe Hitomi has the rare gift of being both an exceptional pianist and also a fantastic teacher. She was able to combine difficult training routines and practice, while being able to teach pieces I actually wanted to learn. Soon I could see the hours of practice come together in learning Chopin, Satie, and Bach. She had a way of breaking down the steps, while being patient and also focussed on what was essential to move forward. Hitomi was able to push me in a direction I didn’t know I had in me, and I am grateful for it.
I would recommend anyone who wants to be serious about their piano playing at any level to work with Hitomi, they will not regret it.I was a piano student from age 4-12, and for a variety of reasons stopped taking lessons. Hitomi Honda has taught our son since he was 5 years old. Words cannot express how patient, kind and warm she is with him throughout his growing up with piano. Always finding the positive, always allowing our son to express himself in his lessons. He learned how to memorize, how to read music, dynamic expression, focus. Now he is playing composers such as Rachmaninoff and Chopin. She is an incredible performer and we are lucky to have her as our son’s piano teacher! – L. Harrison
